Al-Houthi criticizes UNSC’s stance, holds the council responsible for humanitarian disaster in Yemen

SANAA, Jun.04 (YPA) – Top member in the Supreme Political Council, Mohammed Ali al-Houthi criticized the UN Security Council (UNSC)’s stance and blamed it for the humanitarian disaster in Yemen.

“The Security Council “bears full responsibility for what has become of Yemen after its decision to put Yemen under the  Chapter VII of the UN Charter,” Mohammed Ali al-Houthi tweeted.

He stressed that the decision was based on misleading intelligence reports from coalition’s  countries involved in the military aggression against Yemen, accusing the UNSC of decriminalizing the coalition states and their allies in terrorizing Yemen and preventing the Yemeni people from selling oil stored in the Safer tanker.

Al-Houthi called on the Security Council to oblige the United Nations to implementing the agreement signed between it and the Republic of Yemen as two sides to avoid to avoid an environmental and human

“Any meeting of the Council that does not oblige the United Nations to implementing the agreement would be a failure. It is a testament to  the commitments of  the Security Council, the United Nations, US and its allies in Saudi-led coalition responsibility towards the catastrophe,” he explained .

“The coalition’s countries do not allow the implementation of the Safer maintenance agreement to deliberately fail every achievement reached by the Republic of Yemen to stop the disasters created by the US-British-Saudi-UAE aggression and its allies,” he added.

“The countries of aggression in this way confirm the failure of the UN envoy to Yemen in everything,” he said, denouncing their claims of concern for peace.

The tweets came hours before the Security Council meeting on the latest developments in the case of the Safaer tanker, which has been anchored for years off the port of Hodeidah province, amid fears of an oil spill that threatens a major environmental disaster in the region.
