Huge fire hits oil refinery in Iran

IRAN, Jun 2 (YPA) – The Iranian authorities said a huge fire broke out on Wednesday in an oil refinery south of the Iranian capital, Tehran.

Tehran’s Emergency Director Peyman Saberian affirmed that the main cause of the fire in the Tehran oil refinery was due to the ignition of the liquid gas lines.

He pointed out that there were no reports of injuries as a result of the accident, adding that many firefighting teams were working to put out the fire.

Saberian explained that there is no danger of environmental pollution threatening the lives of the residents of the capital, despite the dense clouds of smoke over the site of the accident.

Meanwhile, A spokesman for Iran’s emergency services, Mojtaba Khalidi, stated that the fire led to the ignition of the oil stores in the Tehran refinery, which prompted the authorities to send ten ambulances to the site of the accident.
