SANAA, May 29 (YPA) – UNICEF apologized for the introduction of inflatable globes inscribed with the word “Israel” in a shipment of school supplies to Hodeidah port.
The organization said in a letter sent Saturday to the Supreme Council for Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation, “It was due to an unfortunate omission during the procurement process,” confirming that it took all measures not to include such unauthorized supplies in any future shipments.
UNICEF indicated that it has re-exported these groups from Yemen because it is aware that these materials are not allowed in the country, in addition to the disposal of jackets, bags and hats bearing the British Aid Agency logo, which were detained by customs in Al-Raheda area.
In its letter, the organization expressed its hope for the continuation of cooperation with the Supreme Council for the benefit of the children of Yemen.
The security services in the port of Hodeida had seized 786 school bags bearing maps recognizing the Zionist entity instead of the State of Palestine, which UNICEF wanted to distribute them to the students of the city of Hodeida.
