2 WHO staff injured in armed attack in Lahj

LAHJ, May 25 (YPA) – The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militias have committed a new crime with an armed attack on a vehicle belonging to the World Health Organization (WHO) in Lahj province, southern Yemen.

Local sources said that recruits of STC militia shot a vehicle belonging to the WHO on Monday, while it was parked at a military point in Radfan area of Halmein district, which led to the injuring of two staff of the organization were on board the car.

The WHO workers were on a mission to distribute the Corona vaccine in those areas, the sources added, noting that the recruits drove the car to an unknown destination.

The sources pointed out that the attack of the STC recruits was under the pretext that the workers with the organization belonged to the northern provinces.

Activists on social media circulated a video clip that showed a worker bleeding from a gunshot wound.

It should be noted that the Saudi-led coalition has worked over the past years to fuel the regional tendencies to achieve a social rift that serves its colonial interests.
