Head of General Council for people of Mahrah, Socotra reveals priorities for next phase

MAHRAH, May 23 (YPA) – Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah al-Afarar, head of General Council for the People of Mahrah and Socotra called for national unity and rapprochement in order to maintain security and stability and thwart the evil plots against the province.

At an exceptional meeting of the Council, Sheikh al-Afarar said, “The next phase in the province of Mahrah is difficult because of the malicious schemes it faces,” adding that the leadership of the General Council has great responsibility for the new developments in the province at all levels.

Sheikh Afarar stressed that the General Council will stand with the sons of the two provinces by providing humanitarian assistance and development projects in the coming period, and will not give up its historical duty at this important stage, urging  everyone to be  responsible.

For his part, The Secretary-General of the Council stressed the sense of historical responsibility that the province is going through, working in a team spirit, standing by the sons of Mahrah and Socotra to help them in such difficult circumstances.

The Secretariat has approved many future plans to activate all constituencies in the General Council and intensify work with political and community actors to save the province the scourge of conflicts.
