Meteorology center warns citizens about flow of torrents, hot weather

SANAA, April 15 (YPA) – The National Center of Meteorology on Thursday warned citizens about the flow of torrents and low horizontal visibility due to rain in several provinces, and hot weather in desert areas during the next 24 hours.

The center predicted in its weather bulletin the continuation of rain of varying intensity accompanied by thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening periods on separate parts of the mountainous heights from Lahj and Taiz in the south to Saada to the north, and the western heights opposite the Tihama Plain.

It indicated that the rain may extend eastward to separate areas of the interior hills in the western areas of the provinces of Shabwa, Abyan, Jawf, and Marib.

The center pointed out that the temperatures remain high during the day in the desert areas and the inner plateaus of the provinces of Mahra, Hadramout, Shabwa, Marib, and Jawf, ranging between 32 – 38 degrees Celsius.

The center called on citizens in areas where rain is expected to be vigilant and beware of the flow of torrents and take the necessary precautions from thunderstorms. It also warned vehicle drivers on roads and mountain slopes of low visibility due to rain, low clouds, and rockslides.
