Jordanian Emir Hamzah bin Al Hussein accuses country’s leaders of corruption, says he is under house arrest (VIDEO)

SANAA, April 4 (YPA) – Prince Hamzah bin Al Hussein, former Crown Prince of Jordan, said he was placed under house arrest and his bodyguards were arrested, and that he had been asked to stay at home and not contact anyone.

Hamza said in the video  transmitted by his lawyer to the BBC saying  he was not part of any foreign conspiracy and denounced the regime as corrupt.

In an Arabic video and an English video, he accused the country’s leaders of corruption and incompetence.

Hamzah issued the recording video after reports that the Jordanian army had asked him to “stop movements and activities employed to target Jordan’s security and stability”.

Army Commander Yusuf al-Haniti earlier denied reports of Hamza’s arrest.

On the other hand, a member of the Jordanian royal family and the former head of the royal court were arrested on Saturday due to “security reasons,” according to Jordan’s state news agency Petra, and the country’s former crown prince claimed he has been told not to leave his home.

Petra did not offer additional details on the arrests of royal family member Hassan bin Zaid and the former head of the royal court, Basem Awadallah, saying that an investigation is underway.
