Saudi Arabia summons STC’s leadership due to storming Al-Maasheeq Palace

SANAA, March 17 (YPA) – Saudi Arabia summoned on Wednesday the leadership of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC), against the backdrop of storming Al-Maasheeq Palace in the city of Aden, south of Yemen, according to political sources.

The sources confirmed that the Saudi-backed Hadi government had accused the STC of mobilizing its supports to storm it’s the presidential Palace in Aden, considering that the STC’s political and media escalations aimed at undermining the Riyadh Agreement, signed in early November 2019.

Earlier in the day, a spokesman for the STC, Ali Al Kathiri, welcomed the invitation made by the Saudi Foreign Ministry, stressing, in his tweet, the importance of completing the implementation of the agreement, in a way that guarantees a decent life for citizens.

The STC’s militia have imposed its control over the city of Aden in August 2019, after military confrontations with Hadi and Islah forces, the STC managed to expel the government from Aden and seize the city of Zinjibar, the capital of Abyan.
