Magnitude 5.7 earthquake strikes western Chile

SANAA, March 17 (YPA) – The US Geological Survey announced on Wednesday that a strong earthquake has hit western Chile.
The US Geological Survey confirmed that the earthquake, which occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers, was 5.7 on the Richter scale.
The US Geological Service reported that the earthquake occurred at exactly 12:12 GMT at latitude (40.720) to the south and longitude (85.303) to the west.
There were no reports of material or human losses, and subsequent tsunami waves were not announced.
Chile has a long history of exposure to devastating earthquakes, including an earthquake in 2010, which measured 8.8 degrees on the Richter scale off the south-central coast, and led to a giant tidal wave that destroyed coastal towns, and an earthquake of 7.2 in 2019.
