ADEN, March 12 (YPA) – The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) militia has dispersed the sit-in of protesters demanding improved services and salaries in Aden, southern Yemen.
According to local sources in the city, a military force of the STC on Friday, broke up the sit-in of the protesters in the arena of the performances in Khor Makser, and confiscated their tents and tools to stay in the square.
The sources said that the reason for the break-up of the citizens’ sit-in was due to the bad scene of the sit-in in the demonstration square.
The sources said that the “STC” militia addressed the protesters via loudspeaker “ISIS militants”, after confiscating their camps in the arena of the performances.
The hungry revolution broke out in Aden in early March, protesting the deterioration of electricity and health services, in addition to the non-payment of salaries by Hadi government.
The coalition-backed government compounded by the suffering of citizens and the collapse of illegal local currency prices in front of foreign currencies, without any economic reforms since the government’s return at the end of December 2020.
Angry protesters in Aden had called for an open sit-in until basic services and a decent life was restored to the city’s residents and the rest of the southern provinces.
