Beijing blames Trump administration for tension with Washington

SANAA, Feb. 22 (YPA) – The actions of former US President Donald Trump’s administration to suppress and contain China are the root cause of problems in relations between the two countries, said Wang Yi, the state councilor in charge of China’s foreign affairs

 Speaking at a forum in Beijing, Wang urged those responsible for American policy-making to stop discrediting China’s ruling Communist Party and stop colluding with separatist forces.

 In a telephone conversation with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken earlier this month, Yang Jiechi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China, called on Washington to correct its recent mistakes and work together to develop relations.

 Days later, the Chinese president and his US counterpart, Xi Jinping, told Biden that Beijing and Washington should resume dialogue mechanisms and properly define their respective policies to avoid miscalculations and misjudgments, noting that cooperation is the only best option for the United States and China.
