Amnesty International commends US President’s decision to suspend arms sales to Saudi Arabia and UAE
SANAA, Jan. 29 (YPA) – Amnesty International praised on Thursday the US President’s decision to suspend arms sales to Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
“President Biden’s decision to freeze arms sales to Saudi Arabia and the UAE represents a good relief, contrary to a chapter in the disgraceful history,” Philippe Nassif, the Advocacy Director for the Middle East and North Africa at Amnesty International USA said.
“For nearly six years of war on Yemen, fueled by irresponsible arms transfers, which have been left 14 million Yemenis in desperate need of the humanitarian aid,” Nassif added.
He continued: “The US move is a positive step to increase pressure on European countries, most notably the United Kingdom and France, to stop fueling human misery in Yemen.”
