US drone strike hits area near oil fields in Shabwah

SHABWAH, Jan. 24 (YPA) – Drone aircraft, believed to belonging to the US air forces, on Monday launched an airstrike near oil fields in Shabwah province, southeastern Yemen.

Local sources said that the drone strikes targeted armed groups, believed to be affiliated with al-Qaeda, between the towns of Al-Khadra and Nabqian in Ain Bayhan  on the border with Marib province.

The death toll  has not been yet  known .

Bayhan is a home to the main oil fields operated by US companies.
