MARIB, Jan. 21 (YPA) – The Saudi-led coalition released on Thursday a number of Yemeni officers accused of treason with the Sanaa forces, according to sources.
The sources affirmed that the operation of the release came a month after they were arrested on charges of providing coordinators and information to the Yemeni army in Sanaa.
The sources pointed out earlier that the Islah militant led by Abu Mohammad Shalan, the commander of the so-called Special Forces, submitted a report on the arrest of a spy cell belonging to the Sanaa forces led by Abdulaziz Al-Hamiqani and Basem Al-Samit, to be released after being proved that the accusations were incorrect.
The release of the officers accused of treason has constituted a major blow to the coalition forces, which boasted that they had arrested a Sanaa forces’ spy cell, which caused their forces to be bombed in Marib.
On December 4, 2020, the coalition forces published a documentary video under a title Threads of espionage, which they claimed had arrested a spy cell inside its ranks to transfer information about the movements of the coalition military leaders.
The sources said that the colonel “Abdulaziz Al-Hamiqani”, one of the military leaders loyal to the coalition forces in the Marib, was freed with a number of officers.
