SANAA, Jun. 12 (YPA) – Minister of Oil and Minerals, Ahmed Abdullah Dars, on Tuesday met with the Resident Representation of UNDP for Yemen, Auke Lootsma.
During the meeting, the officials discussed the issue of oil derivatives and the difficulties with regard to the humanitarian aspect and the measures taken regarding the United Nations’ request more than once to pressure the countries of the aggression coalition to release the detained oil derivatives ships and the commitment not to maritime piracy in the future.
The meeting also confirmed the highest importance of the role of the United Nations for urgent intervention in preventing the detention of ships of oil derivatives, in a way that contributes to meeting the needs of service sectors such as health, transportation, water, electricity and other oil derivatives.
In the meeting, Dars confirmed that the continued detention of oil derivative ships incurred heavy financial penalties for the Yemeni people.
Regarding the ship, Safer, the Minister of Oil explained that it had been agreed with the United Nations to start maintenance work on February 15, as the tasks and teams were defined.
For his part, the UN official affirmed the readiness to cooperate in this aspect and work to address the difficulties in a way that would contribute to alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people.
