SANAA, Dec. 29 (YPA) – A leader of the Islah party, Ali Mohsen Al-Ahmar, asked the Saudi-led coalition to visit Marib province in an attempt to escape the Saudi capital, Riyadh, according to political sources familiar with the matter.
The sources in the Saudi-backed exiled Hadi government confirmed that the leader, Al-Ahmar, loyal to Saudi Arabia, had submitted a formal request to the Saudi ambassador Mohammad Al Jaber to allow him to visit Marib, under the pretext of inspecting the battles and meeting with the military leaders.
The sources indicated that Ambassador Al Jaber did not respond to Al-Ahmar’s request, which was submitted before announcing the formation of the new government of Hadi, who lives in Riyadh.
According to the sources, Saudi Arabia prevented Al-Ahmar from returning to Marib, likely to place him under house arrest in Riyadh.
The political differences is prevailing over who will occupy the position of the so-called “Hadi’s deputy,” amid Emirati nominations appointing Khaled Bahah instead of Al-Ahmar.
