Health meeting discusses aspects related to pharmaceutical industry

SANAA, Dec. 29 (YPA) – The Board of Directors of the Supreme Commission for Medicines and Medical Supplies discussed, in its meeting chaired on Tuesday by Minister of Health Taha Al-Mutawakel, aspects related to the local pharmaceutical industry.

At the meeting, the minister touched on issues related to alternative medicine and the mechanism for encouraging the manufacture of medicines from herbal sources of Yemeni nature according to the foundations and scientific studies.

Al-Mutawakel affirmed that the political leadership has a plan to build the health and pharmaceutical sector, and to achieve self-sufficiency.

He also stressed keenness to overcome the difficulties facing the pharmaceutical industries, pointing out that Yemen is full of medicinal herbs that need scientific study and research.

The meeting also stressed the importance of holding responsibilities by everyone in light of the conditions the country is going through to promote and develop the pharmaceutical industry that needs citizens.
