Al-Hassani reveals Saudi directive to evacuate Hadi’s forces from Abyan

ABYAN, Dec. 24 (YPA) – Adel al-Hassani, a former detainee in a UAE person  and a leader in the so-called Southern Resistance on Thursday  reported  Saudi directives to Hadi’s forces to leave Abyan province, southern Yemen.

Al-Hassani accused Riyadh of seeking to hand over the province to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC).

He noted that the Saudi committee is pressuring Hadi’s forces to hand over their positions in Qarn al-Kalasi and Shuqra areas, while ignoring the presence of the STC militias in  Zinjibar and Jaar districts.

The Saudi committee began a process two weeks ago to supervise the implementation of the military part of the Riyadh agreement between Hadi and the STC in Abyan.

However, despite the announcement that the first step is nearing completion, the forces of the two sides are still stationed in their positions as military reinforcement continues to be deployed to the frontlines in a sign of preparations for a new round of confrontations.

Al-Hasani is one of the most prominent leaders of the Southern Resistance. Previously, he had been arrested and imprisoned in Bir Ahmed prison by the UAE forces in Aden, before eventually being released.
