SANAA, Dec. 15 (YPA) – The US President-elect, Joe Biden, launched the most violent attack to date on the outgoing President, Donald Trump, and said that the latter refuses to respect the will of the people and the supremacy of the law.
In a speech he gave in his stronghold of Wilmington, Delaware, following a daytime voting process during which the “Electoral College” officially confirmed his victory in the elections that took place on November 3, Biden said about Trump’s position, “This is a very extreme position that we have not seen before. The position of refusing to respect the will of the people, refusing to respect the rule of law, and refusing to respect our constitution.
Biden said, “Our democracy, which has been under pressure, testing and threats, has proven strong and resilient,” noting that the election results should be respected, not attacked.
In his speech, Biden praised the voters who had cast their ballots despite concerns stemming from the Covid-19 pandemic, the climate that prevailed in the electoral process and witnessed “tremendous political pressures, verbal abuse, and even threats of physical violence” targeting election officials.
He added, “I sincerely hope that we will never again see anyone exposed to the threats and violations that we have witnessed in these elections,” describing the harassment of officials in charge of the conduct of the elections as “unreasonable.”
