Saudi authorities suspend flights to Jeddah

SANAA, Dec. 14 (YPA) – Saudi authorities on Monday suspended flights to Jeddah following an explosion that rocked the city.

Saudi media quoted shipping sources in the kingdom as saying that flights to King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah had been diverted to the city’s Prince Mohammed Airport.

Activists on social media circulated maps showing the route of flights returned from the airspace of Jeddah.

Saudi Arabia has not officially commented on the reasons for the suspension, but its timing indicates it is linked to an explosion that rocked the city early in the oil port and caused a large cloud of smoke.

Observers also said it also reflects fears that the international airport could be attacked.
