YMU expresses its full solidarity with RT’s correspondent in Yemen

SANAA, Dec. 12 (YPA) – The Yemeni Media Union (YMU) on Friday condemned the life threatening to its fellow Jamal Al-Ashwal via WhatsApp message for an outside Arabic number, to his private number.

In a statement, YMU announced its full solidarity with Al-Ashwal, RT’s correspondent in Yemen, calling on the concerned authorities to protect Al-Ashwal and take legal proceedings.

The statement affirmed that such threats received by media professionals working in Yemen, are meaningless attempts to dissuade them from performing their media mission according to the professional rules that govern journalism in general.

YMU praised the performance of all media institutions and their affiliates towards monitoring the killing and siege of the Yemeni people.

YMU called on all local and international organizations concerned with freedom of opinion and expression and all the free people in the world, including journalists, media professionals and jurists, to declare their solidarity with Al-Ashwal and all Yemeni journalists who have been subjected to killing, threats and siege since the start of the aggression against Yemen on March 26, 2015.
