Floods killed 5 people in Indonesia

SANAA, Dec. 5 (YPA) – At least 5 people were killed in Indonesia on Friday, after rains caused floods that flooded streets and forced residents to flee in Medan, the capital of North Sumatra province.
A spokesman for the Search and Rescue Agency in Medan, Sariman Sitoros, said that one person was still missing after the floods flooded many streets, and that “all the victims were living in the same housing complex.”
More than 2,700 homes were flooded in the city, while rescue teams moved by boat in the middle of the streets to transport families and residents stranded in their homes due to the force of the flood.
Floods and landslides are common in Indonesia during the rainy season between October and March every year.
