Montenegro Republic expels Serbian ambassador

SANAA, Nov. 29 (YPA) – The Ministry of the Interior of Montenegro announced the expulsion of the Serbian ambassador.
In a statement on Saturday, it said that the Serbian ambassador was “persona non grata” for his interference in the country’s internal affairs.
After the statement was issued, Serbia declared the Montenegrin ambassador persona non grata and gave him 72 hours to leave the country, Reuters reported.
In the statement, the ministry stated that despite verbal and written warnings not to interfere in internal affairs, the Serbian ambassador said that the parliament session that was held in 1918 in which the sovereignty of Montenegro was abolished was “liberation.”
The small country on the Adriatic Sea of ​​600,000 people was a kingdom until 1918 when it revoked its sovereignty to join Yugoslavia.

Montenegro remained in union with Serbia after the collapse of Yugoslavia in the early 1990s and declared its independence in 2006.
