Yemeni Minister of Agriculture discusses areas of cooperation with Iranian ambassador in Sanaa
SANAA, Nov. 24 (YPA) – Yemeni Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, Eng. Abdul-Malik Al-Thawr, on Monday discussed with the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Yemen Hassan Erlo, areas of cooperation between the two countries in the agricultural field and ways to enhance and develop them.
In the meeting, the Minister of Agriculture affirmed that Yemen was keen to benefit from Iranian expertise in the agricultural side, especially in agricultural research and mechanization, and combating desertification, for its experience in these fields.
He pointed out the importance of coordination to prepare a cooperation protocol between the two countries in the agricultural field, as well as qualifying agricultural engineers for postgraduate studies.
For his part, the Iranian ambassador affirmed keenness to enhance cooperation with Yemen, indicating that Iran was able to produce seeds and increase its productivity, which enabled it to overcome the economic blockade.
He expressed his country’s government’s willingness to support Yemen on the agricultural side, pointing out that Yemen possesses agricultural potentials that enable it to make a qualitative leap in this sector.
