WHO sets condition for end of Coronavirus pandemic

SANAA, Nov. 12 (YPA) – The chief scientist at the World Health Organization, Somaya Swaminathan, announced that the emerging corona virus (Covid-19) could end when about 70 percent of the world’s population is vaccinated against the virus.

On Thursday, the media quoted Swaminathan, stressing the need for the vaccine to be safe and effective, and to meet all necessary World Health Organization standards in such areas.

The World Health Organization had earlier announced a new record for the number of infections with the Corona virus discovered in the world and the number of new cases this week exceeded 3.6 million cases,

The Organization indicated that this weekly number is the highest since the beginning of the epidemic, and the largest proportion of new cases was recorded in the European region.

In connection with this, the director of the Russian “Gamalia” center, which specializes in epidemics, Alexander Gintsberg, announced the date of the start of comprehensive vaccination against the Corona virus in Russia.

According to his expectations, comprehensive vaccination will begin in late November and early December 2020, stressing that there are no serious side effects from vaccination with this vaccine, and he means the “Sputnik V” vaccine, the first of its kind recorded in the world.
