five killed, three injured in fire in southern China

SANAA, Nov. 3 (YPA) -Five people were killed, three others injured and one missing, after a fire broke out at Beihai liquefied natural gas terminal in south China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

 

The accident occurred at the LNG terminal, which is run by a company owned by the China Oil and Gas Pipeline Network (PIPE China), Xinhua news agency reported, citing local authorities on Tuesday.

 

According to the local publicity office, the fire has been extinguished while rescue operations are under way and an investigation is under way to ascertain the cause of the accident.

 

Earlier, Chinese Vice Premier Han Zheng said the state is making great efforts to ensure that the heating and safety of citizens is maintained during the winter.

 

“The authorities and companies concerned must take responsibility for ensuring the smooth operation of the country’s new supply mechanisms,” Xinhua added.
