Yemeni recruits killed, wounded as Saudi forces quell rebellion in Jizan

JIZAN, Oct. 13 (YPA) – At least three people were killed and several others injured on Tuesday when Saudi forces quelled a rebellion by Yemeni mercenary soldiers fighting in the Jizan sector.

This was reported by Yemen News Portal, based on military sources.

Military sources in Hadi’s forces said that Saudi forces stormed a camp for the soldiers of the so-called “First Yemeni Brigade Duty” in Jizan and began firing live bullets and bombs at hundreds of recruits gathered in the camp to demand their salaries.

The shooting killed and injured a number of demonstrators, arrested more than 400 conscripts and left them with a few containers of sein before being deported.

The border areas with Yemen have been plagued by escalating disputes between Yemeni recruits hired by Saudi Arabia to defend its territory during the past six years of war and Saudi forces that have abandoned their services and are trying to deport them after cutting off their salaries and nutrition in the past nine months.

Yemeni recruits treated by Saudi Arabia as mercenaries refuse to return to Yemen without improving their status, paying their salaries and adding them to official statements.

Saudi forces have already deported a number of southern brigades for only two months’ salary and without compromise, while factions from the north are haggling over returning to Marib in exchange for their inclusion in Hadi’s forces and their salaries.
