SANAA, Oct. 12 (YPA) – The current President of Tajikistan, Imam Ali Rahman, won a fifth presidential term, according to the final results of the elections that took place on Sunday.
The head of the Central Presidential Elections Committee in Tajikistan, Bakhtiar Khodorzoda, said in a press briefing today, reported by Russia Today, that Rahman received 90.92 percent of the votes, indicating that the participation rate in the elections was 85.39 percent.
It is worth noting that this is the fifth term that the holder of the longest presidential term wins among the leaders of the countries of the former Soviet Union, as he assumed the presidency of the country for the first time in 1992.
The presidential elections began on Sunday in Tajikistan, with 3,375 polling stations opened throughout the country, while the number of registered voters reached more than 4.9 million.
