9 dead in clashes between pro-coalition militias in Marib

MARIB, May 19 (YPA) – At least nine militants were killed and 13 others injured on Friday in armed clashes between militias of Islah Party and other elements, all of them are loyal to Saudi-led coalition in Marib province, local sources reported.

The clashes broke out in the government compound in Marib between elements of the special security forces and others from the facilities protection unit after disagreements over sharing of funds, according to the sources.

Activists in Marib said the clashes were caused by disagreements over the division of funds and Ramadan grants between a military commander and his followers.

The tension is still between the two factions and the conflict is expected to escalate, the sources added.
