Yemeni Parliament welcomes prisoner exchange agreement

SANAA, Sep. 28 (YPA) – The Yemeni Parliament welcomed on Monday the executive procedures for the prisoner exchange agreement, which the Swiss meetings began to prepare for a week ago.

This came in the Parliament’s session held in Sanaa on Monday and chaired by the House’s Speaker Yahya Ali Al-Ra’i.

The Parliament’s members considered the agreement a first step in the right path for a Yemeni-Yemeni dialogue, urging all parties to speed up the implementation of the agreement and take into account the humanitarian situation of the prisoners and their relatives.

They renewed the call for giving priority to the voice of reason and the interest of the Yemeni people to reach understandings on all issues, including ending the war and lifting the siege.

This prisoner exchange agreement comes within the framework of the implementation of the Sweden agreement and the subsequent meetings, discussions and understandings under the auspices of the United Nations that led to the first phase agreement to release more than a thousand prisoners of war on both sides, starting from mid-October.
