Research team to start studying agricultural crops reality in Tihama, Jawf: Official

HODEIDAH, Sep. 28 (YPA) –The General Authority for Agricultural Research and Extension on Sunday designated a research team to conduct studies on the reality of agricultural crops in Tihama and Jawf areas and submit a detailed report on that, said Ali Al-Harib, deputy head of the plant and animal production sector at the Yemeni Economic Corporation.

This came during a meeting held at the Hodeidah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, headed by Acting Governor Mohammed Ayyash Quhim, which discussed the mechanism for encouraging contract farming and its importance in reducing the value of the import bill of five billion dollars annually.

In the meeting, Al-Harib confirmed the completion of the contractual farming procedures arrangements by a technical office, as well as drafting of its contracts.

In turn, Director of the Industry and Trade Office in the province, Mohammed Abdulwahid Al-Hattami, affirmed the office’s readiness, in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce, to coordinate with merchants to cooperate with the state and government directions to encourage local products so as to reach self-sufficiency.
