Hodeidah prepares to build coal-fired power plant of 1,000 MW

HODEIDAH, Sep. 28 (YPA) – An agreement was signed on Sunday in Hodeidah province for the handover and receipt of the site allocated for the construction of a coal-fired power plant with a generating capacity of 1,000 megawatts in the province.

The agreement was signed by Deputy Minister of Electricity and Energy Abdulghani Al-Madani and Judge Ibrahim Al-Hadi for the General Authority for Land, Survey and Urban Planning.

Following the signature, Acting Governor Mohammed Ayyash Quhim confirmed that the handover of the site of the power plant project in Al-Salif district comes in implementation of the directives of the Leader of the Revolution Sayyed Abdulmalik Badr Al-Din Al-Houthi and the President of the Supreme Political Council Mahdi Al-Mashat.

Quhim clarified that the work would begin by surveying and leveling the land amounting 16 million square meters, and handing it over to the contractor and the project executing company.

Al-Madani considered the station one of the strategic projects that the Ministry of Electricity intends to implement during the coming period.
