Doctors, staff of Radfan Hospital threaten to launch strike

LAHJ, Sept. 10 (YPA) – Doctors and workers at Radfan General Hospital in al-Hablin district in Lahj province on Thursday announced a partial strike until their financial dues were paid.

During the vigil, which was held in front of the Radfan Hospital building, the protesters demanded that the operational allocations of the hospital, the maternity and child centre and the directorate’s health office be disbursed, which had been delayed for five consecutive months.

Members of The Radfan Hospital threatened to take new steps of escalation if their dues were not paid, most notably the total strike.

They called for a speedy response to their legitimate demands. Blaming the competent authorities for the suspension of the hospital, which receives dozens of patients from all areas of Al-Habilin on a daily basis.

This comes four days after similar protests organized by the Health Office of the Al-Habilin Directorate in front of Radfan Hospital, denouncing the suspension of the director general of the directorate, Mashal al- Daerai,  and the disbursement of operational expenses for health facilities.

The health sector is deteriorating significantly in the southern provinces, including Lahj, due to the mismanagement of the Hadi Government, whose officials are interested in feeding their own assets at the expense of the suffering of citizens, who lack the most basic necessities of life.
