SANAA, Sept. 6 (YPA) – The French presidency reported, on Saturday evening, that two French armed forces soldiers were killed during a military operation in Mali.
The French presidency stated, in a statement, that the two soldiers were from the paratroopers’ forces and were killed on Saturday morning by an explosive device that targeted their armored vehicle.
The statement stated that the military operation in which the two soldiers participated was taking place in a rural area in the northeast of the country.
In 2014, France deployed to Sahel region, which includes Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Burkina-Faso and Chad, 5,000 soldiers, as part of a large operation to combat militant armed groups.
