Worldwide coronavirus cases exceed 22 million

SANAA, Aug.19 (YPA) – The number of worldwide coronavirus cases has exceeded  22 million in the early hours of Wednesday, Sputnik reported.

There are over 22 million confirmed COVID-19 cases globally, with over 778,000 fatalities and more than 14 million recoveries, according to the latest tally from Johns Hopkins University.

The US has seen over 5.4 million infections and more than 171,000 deaths – both numbers are the highest for any country in the world

Brazil ranks second with 3,407,354 casualties and nearly 110,000 deaths.

India ranks third with nearly three million hits (2,702,742) and 51,797 deaths.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has classified the new Coronavirus (COVId-19), which appeared in China late last year, as a global epidemic.
