Update: Death toll from Dhala armed clashes rises to 11 dead

DHALA, May 14 (YPA) – Death toll from armed clashes between two military factions loyal to Saudi-led coalition forces in Dhala province increased to 11 dead and dozens of wounded from both sides, local sources told Yemen Press Agency on Monday.

The military confrontations broke out on Saturday between the 30th Armored Brigade forces led by Brigadier General Abdulkarim al-Sayadi and the special security forces led by Brigadier Abdo al-Halimi in Habil al-Sama’ei area in north of Qataba city in the province.

The armed clashes came against the backdrop of a failed assassination targeted al-Sayadi and led to the killing of three of his bodyguards and wounding others, in which al-Halimi was accused of standing behind the incident.

Five soldiers of the special security forces were killed in the confrontations, as well as injuring civilians, including three children, two women, and a driver of a tanker passing by the public road, according to the southern newspaper (Al Ayyam).
