Yemeni army takes control over one of al-Qaeda stronghold in Bayda

BAYDA, Aug. 10 (YPA) – The Yemeni Army forces and popular committees on Monday took control over a strategic mountain in Bayda province, central of Yemen, military sources said.

According to the sources, the army forces have extended their control over the strategic Mountain “Nawfan” so that they can then impose a total siege on the entire area of “Thi Kaleb” east of Qaifa district, which is one of al-Qaeda strongholds in the province.

Moreover, the army forces and popular committees also took control over the areas of the Aqabat  Za’aj and ” Jawf Alnejfa” east of Qaifa to cut off the takfirist elements of al-Qaeda supply line coming from Marib.

The sources said there were casualties among al-Qaeda militants in battles with the army and committees, including leaders known as Abu Tamim al-Qaefi and Abu Hussein al-A’mari
