SANAA, July 10 (YPA) – The Afghan Defense Ministry announced in a statement on Friday that Afghan forces killed nine militants and thwarted the Taliban’s attempts to gain land in the Al-Maskhil area of Khost province in the east of the country.
The statement pointed out that the Taliban militants stormed some security checkpoints in the Al-Maskhil area late on Thursday, which led to heavy fighting, but the forces backed by fighter planes hit the attacking rebels, killed nine and wounded seven others and forced the rebels to flee.
No security personnel or civilians were injured in the fighting, the statement said, adding that security forces would continue to work to stabilize security elsewhere in the country.
