SANAA, July 9 (YPA) – An earthquake of 5.5 on the Richter scale struck northeastern Colombia on Wednesday night, but no casualties or material damage have been announced so far, according to the National Institute of Geology.
According to the agency “Agence France Presse,” the Colombian Geological Observatory wrote on Twitter that the earthquake center was located in Zapatuca in the Santander region, explaining that the earthquake occurred on Wednesday at 22:22 (03:22 Thursday) at a depth of 149 km.
The tremors were felt by a number of cities, including the capital Bogota (center), Tonga (center), Medellin (northeast), and Ibague (northeast), as Colombians wrote on social media.
The National Disaster Risk Management Department announced measures in “areas where people felt the earthquake” to identify any potential damage.
