Al Jazeera channel chairman appoints Yemeni media personality as executive director of channel

DOHA, May 10 (YPA) -The chairman of the board of the Al Jazeera Media Network, Sheikh Hamad bin Thamer bin Mohammed Al Thani announced on Thursday the appointment of Yemeni media personality Ahmed bin Salem Al-Suqatri as the executive director of Al-Jazeera, replacing of Yasser Ali Abu Hilala.

According to an editor of a Qatari newspaper, the appointment of al- Suqatri, “who confirmed that he is from Socotra,” came to reflect the interest of the Qatari authorities of the island of Socotra and its citizens and to send a political message to her neighbor, the United Arab Emirates, that Al Jazeera channel and Socotra island are difficult to deny them as media and natural Miracles.

In such a decision, the Qatari authorities put Al-Jazeera channel on the service of the Yemeni island people in which they are fighting in it and with a number of Arab and regional countries.

the Yemeni Socotra island people are struggling to expel the UAE occupation forces in which they have recently deployed their military equipments  and to end the UAE presence in Yemen as a whole, defying the blockade and political isolation imposed by Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain nearly a year ago.
