military commander killed in clashes in Taiz
TAIZ, May 10 (YPA) – A military commander of Saudi-backed militias was killed and a civilian was shot dead by gunmen on Thursday in Taiz province, official sources told Yemen Press Agency.
The commander, who was working in the brigade of 35 armored, Issam al-Sabai, was killed, and a civilian working “motorcyclist” shot by gunmen led by “Hamdi al-Suwai” in armed clashes in Nishma area of Maafer district south of Taiz.
The sources said that the armed clashes broke out becouse of market tax., adding that a number of militias follow al-Sabai and al- Suwai’s gunmen exchanged the fire, which caused to close shops all over the market
The militants cut off the path of Nishma-Turba areas and siege of the citizens inside the market, causing panic among the people, the sources added.
This comes in light of the security chaos witnessed by Taiz province, and the spread of assassinations, especially between the Muslim Brotherhood and the forces loyal to the UAE in the province.
