5.5 magnitude earthquake hits Egyptian capital

SANAA, June 29 (YPA) –  An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale on Sunday evening struck Egyptian capital, Cairo, and was felt by a large number of citizens.
The head of the Astronomical Research Institute in Egypt, Dr. Jad El-Kady, said that an earthquake occurred at 7:43 minutes in the evening, Cairo time, which was felt by the residents of the capital, without any losses.

Dr. El-Kady pointed out in press statements that the institutes of the National Network of Earthquakes of the Institute, recorded a tremor measuring 5.5 degrees on the Richter scale, its location specifically 218 km southeast of Izmir, Turkey.

This is the third earthquake, which hit Egypt in less than two months, as the coastal city of Hurghada witnessed two earthquakes, the first in May, and the second on the 16th of June, with a magnitude of 5.2 on the Richter scale.
