5.5 magnitude earthquake hits western Turkey

SANAA, June 26 (YPA) –  An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale on Friday struck Saruhanli district, Manisa state, in western Turkey.
Disaster and Emergency Management said in a statement that the earthquake occurred at 10.21 am local time.

The statement pointed out that the quake was centered in Saruhanli and occurred at a depth of 9.29 km below the surface of the earth.

In turn, Minister of the Interior Suleiman Soilo said, in Twitter, that no losses had been observed in the judiciary center, and that no communication had been received so far.

He stated that work is under way to verify whether there were any damages in the countryside of the region, or not, as a result of the earthquake.

It is noteworthy that an earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale hit the state of “Wan” in eastern Turkey on Thursday.
