Al-Jabwani launches recruitment operation in Shabwah
SHABWAH, June 15 (YPA) – The resigned Minister of Transport in the coalition-backed government, Saleh al-Jabwani, on Sunday began a large-scale recruitment operation in Shabwah, southeastern Yemen, amid US expectations of a possible Turkish intervention.
Activists posted a photo of al-Jabwani, who has just returned from Qatar, inside a school in Ataq city, attracting dozens of young men and tribal militants in exchange for large sums of money.

He had visited Turkey during his tenure as transport minister many times and asked for Turkish support.
This move indicates that he officially took command of the battle in the province, which has been witnessing battles with tribes threatening to overthrow Hadi’s last stronghold.
Al-Jabwani came to lead the battle in Shabwah amid reports stated that the Saudi ambassador is there trying to make agree with the tribes to prevent the fall of the oil province to the UAE.
According to initial reports, Saudi Arabia is moving to overthrow the al- Islah authority in order to block the UAE from any military action that strengthens its followers’ influence and appeases the tribes that are in conflict with the “brotherhood”.
The Saudi ambassador reportedly pushed Governor Mohammed Saleh bin Eido to leave the province despite the latter’s denials.
In the context, MintPress News reported that that Ankara is preparing a “Libya-like” military involvement in Yemen, pointing out that Turkish officers and experts are currently participating in the fighting in Yemen through training, supervision of operations and the operation of drones.
The Turkish officers and advisors in Yemen are lending comprehensive support to al-Islah’s militants, who have been fighting against the Southern Transitional Council (STC) in Abyan since April 26, when the STC imposed emergency rule in Aden and all southern governorates.
Beginning in 2018 and ’19, dozens of Turkish officers and experts reportedly arrived in many Yemeni areas overlooking the Red and Arabian seas, particularly in Shabwah, Abyan, Socotra, Mahrah and the coastal Directorate of Mokha near the Bab al-Mandab Strait as well as Marib, according to MintPress.
Recent developments are expected to change the map of fighting in southern Yemen, particularly in Shabwah, which has been experiencing escalating fighting.
