STC pushes military reinforcements towards Abyan

ADEN, June 8 (YPA) – The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) on Monday pushed major military reinforcements to Abyan province, southern Yemen, local sources said.

According to the sources, at least ten armoured vehicles and a number of military pickups left the al-Tawahi area of Aden, heading towards Abyan province, to support STC militias in the battles against Hadi and Al-Islah militants.

Meanwhile,  the military commanders in the STC have demanded the return of recruits from the southern provinces who are fighting along Saudi-led coalition forces on border and the west coast fronts.

The move came in conjunction with intense military mobilizations for Hadi and Islah forces towards Aden.

On Sunday, al-Islah militants suffered heavy losses, as they attempted to storm Ja’ar, the second largest city in Abyan province.

The recent infighting left dozens of Hadi forces killed and wounded, including military commanders, among them Al-Khadhir Kurda.
