Former US Defense Secretary: Trump seeks to divide United States

SANAA, June 4 (YPA) – Former US Defense Secretary Jim Mattis launched an unprecedented attack on President Donald Trump, accusing him of seeking to divide the United States.

“Donald Trump is the first president in my life who does not try to unite Americans, but he does not even pretend that he is trying to do that,” Mattis was quoted as saying in a statement posted by The Atlantic magazine on its website.

Several American newspapers have confirmed that Trump has again failed to confront and solve the chronic and accumulated problems in the United States.

Trump has dealt with the widespread protests that followed the killing of George Floyd, an african-American in Minneapolis, by the police ineffectively and even fueled the protests as he described the protesters as thugs and threatened to shoot at them and use unlimited military force against the demonstrations.
