Yemeni workers celebrate in front of UN office in Sanaa

SANAA, May 8 (YPA) – The Yemeni General Federation of Trade Unions on Tuesday celebrated International Workers Day in front of the United Nations Office in Sanaa under the slogan “A hand builds and another protects rights and freedoms”.

The participants said the purpose of the celebration before the UN office is to convey the suffering of Yemeni workers and defend their interests in accordance with the Constitution and international legislations and laws.

“Yemen’s workers and their families face an unknown fate,” said a statement issued by the federation.

Saudi-led aggression coalition targeted deliberately the workers while they are in their facilities, resulting in the killing and injuring of more than 15,884, the statement referred.

In its statement, the federation voiced the workers’ support to all peace endeavors in Yemen, noting that the assassination of President Saleh Al-Sammad affirms that the non-seriousness of the coalition in bringing peace.

The statement demanded that the United Nations and the Security Council cease the aggression immediately, speed up paying of delayed staff salaries and lift the blockade.
