Yemeni researcher died from COVID-19 in Sudan, 27 students infected

KHARTOUM, May 14 (YPA) – The Yemeni Student Union in Sudan announced In a statement issued on Tuesday that 27 Yemeni students had contracted Corona virus (COVID-19).

The student union said that it launched a distress call nine days ago to support the quarantine, calling on “Hadi government” to pay the late financial dues since the fourth quarter of 2019, and to evacuate the Yemeni students from Sudan.

The union statement affirmed that the students demands did not find any response.

For its part, the Medical Emergency Committee for Yemenis in Sudan said, in a statement on Facebook Tuesday, that the results of tests of 29 Yemeni students in the epidemiology department in Khartoum state confirmed that 27 of them were infected with the virus.

The committee confirmed that the Yemeni academic researcher Khalid Al-Amami died of the Corona virus three weeks after his infection with the virus.

The epidemic spread in the housing of Yemeni students in the “Bahri Shambat” residence in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, the committee added.
