SANAA, April 17 (YPA) – The Yemen Petroleum Company (YPC)’s employees and its unions on Friday held a vigil in front of the United Nations office in the capital Sanaa, for the 54th Friday in row.
At the protesting vigil, the company’s executive manager Ammar al-Adhraei said that the Saudi-led aggression coalition is still holding 14 oil ships loaded with more than 350,000 tons of fuel in front of Forsan Island off Jizan, some held for over five months.
Al- Adhraei pointed out that the oil ships that recently arrived at the port of Hodeidah were being held for more than four months, and its stock exchange was 65 dollars a barrel, which made the YPC unable to reduce fuel prices in line with the current stock market prices.
He held the United Nations responsible for the detention of oil ships, whose detention was reflected negatively on the Yemeni citizen and service sectors.
A statement issued by the protest called on the United Nations to assume its humanitarian responsibility towards the Yemeni people and put pressure on the aggression coalition countries to release the seized oil ships.
