Tensions escalate between tribesmen, Islah militias in Marib

MARIB, March 15 (YPA) – Local sources in Marib province revealed on Sunday that tension between the Tribes of Obeida (Damashaqa) and coalition forces in Marib province escalated.

This come after the failure of tribal mediation sent by the “Hadi government” due to the refusal of the Islah party militias to hand over the body of a wounded tribesman who was kidnapped and left bleeding to death.

According to the sources, Local sources, the tribal mediation by Sheikh Abdul Qawi Sharif, failed because of the intransigence of the Islah militias to hand over the body of the wounded Mohammed bin Ali Shalwan al-Damashaqi  al-Obaidi.

Al-Obaidi was kidnapped from the hospital by the militias in Marib city with three of his companions, and he was held in a prison, and left bleeding to death, one of the sources said

The sources explained that the tribal mediation reached a deal to hand over of the body which is in the refrigerator in  Marib  Hospital in the  city, but the forces of the so-called “protection of facilities” refused to release the body and hand it over to the Tribe, which irritated the tribes in Marib city.

The Areas of the Grand Valley and Arakin in Marib last Thursday witnessed violent clashes between the tribes on the one hand and the al-Islah and coalition forces on the other.
